You're not the only owner unsure about this
These three reactions come up in almost every conversation ICON has with MSME owners about POSH. None of them hold up once you look closer.
“We're too small for this to apply”
POSH is not only for large companies. Small businesses and family-run workplaces must understand their responsibilities too. Workplaces with 10 or more workers must constitute an Internal Committee; complaints from workplaces with fewer than 10 go to the Local Complaints Committee set up by the block or district authority.
“I'm worried it'll invite false complaints”
A proper Internal Committee and a fair inquiry process protect everyone, including the accused. Skipping it doesn't prevent misuse; it removes the safeguard.
“We run like a family, so a formal process feels unnecessary”
A written process builds trust rather than replacing it. Most disputes in informally run workplaces happen because there was no clear channel to begin with.
